Charleston Waterkeeper’s Water Ball 2013
May 17, 2013

Water is undeniably one of Charleston greatest natural resources and supplies most everything locals and visitors come to appreciate—food, entertainment, beauty, relaxation, etc. Charleston Waterkeeper, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that focuses 100 percent of its resources on water quality issues in the area, is dedicated to protecting this important Lowcountry treasure.

On Friday, May 17, 2013, the organization will once again host its popular Water Ball at the South Carolina Aquarium to raise funds for their important, data-driven initiatives. A dozen of the area’s most sustainably focused chefs will come together to showcase the important connection between the local water quality and local seafood. Ben Bridwell and Creighton Barrett of the popular rock band Band of Horses, supporters of Charleston Waterkeeper, will be giving a special performance at the event. The aquatic space will also feature an oyster bar by Clammer Dave Belanger, chef and beverage stations, interactive photo booths and more.
Featured chefs will each partner with an area purveyor and together will showcase locally caught seafood items available in the area waters. Chefs include: Mike Lata, The Ordinary and FIG, Jason Stanhope, FIG, Graham Dailey, Peninsula Grill, Drew Hedlund, Fleet Landing Jeremiah Bacon, Indigo Road Group, Nico Romo, FISH/Patrick Properties, Stuart Tracy, Butcher & Bee, Aaron Siegel and Taylor Garrigan of Home Team BBQ/Home Team Kitchen, Brian Parkhurst of Ted’s Butcherblock, Lauren Mitterer of Wild Flour Pastry and Kevin Johnson,
The Grocery. Sweeteeth will be debuting a new specially made chocolate for the cause and beverages will be mixed by ICEBOX.
Tickets are on sale now for $75 at thewaterball.org or at the door for $90.
All of the funds raised from the evening will directly support Charleston Waterkeeper’s efforts to identify and address water pollution issues throughout Charleston’s waterways.
