August 25, 2017
REDUX Contemporary Arts Center, 1056 King St, Charleston 29403

2 years strong and still rippin’; Rip City CHS celebrated its 2-year anniversary mark of providing local comedians, musicians, and artists of all varieties with a monthly platform to explore the weirder side of their mediums. It’s been a staple for the underground comedy scene in Charleston and a great place for experimentation and new work. The show returns to Redux at their new location on King Street with a residency of 6 shows on the last Friday of every month through October. As always, the show features a rotating cast, so it’s entirely new every month. Past performances include: Mr. Bonetangles, Nic Jenkins, Jessica Mickey, Nameless Numberhead, The EffinBRadio Podcast, Joel Hamilton, Vernon Moses, Hunter Gardner, Secret Guest, Sage Graham, Jason Groce, Camille Lowman, Joseph Coker, Shawna Jarrett, Scott Frank, and Kevin Hanley.

RIP CITY CHS is a monthly variety show featuring local improvisers, stand-up comedians, musicians, actors, writers, and a whole bunch of other rag-tag creatives.  The hour-long show is chocked full of performers of different disciplines trying out new and untested material. Results often vary, but the show usually feature something along the lines of original characters, sketches, songs, puppetry, radio plays, etc. The cast rotates and changes each month so every show is completely different. Created and co-produced by Henry Riggs and Maari Suorsa, aka Nameless Numberhead, the goal of the show is to broaden the alternative comedy/arts scene in Charleston and to bridge the various worlds of performance together in one reoccurring show. More info at For a full list of past performances visit our archive at
