“Atlantic coastal areas are often the inspiration for my landscape and wildlife scenes. I try to portray light and atmosphere accurately. I hope my paintings not only convey the beauty of nature and natural habitats but also serve as a reminder of the environmental tragedies unfolding on our nation’s coastlines. Our awareness of the interdependence of seasons, tides, wildlife & humanity brings a broader perspective to life. I hope to tell this story in my art: that we need these wild places as much or more than they need us.”
-Ralph Grady James
