This year the event takes place Memorial Day weekend (on the 25^th at the Music Farm).  The welcoming pre-party will take place Friday the night before at the Recovery Room.  Saturday we are having a BBQ lunch at Home Team BBQ in West Ashley & the Sunday Brunch is set for Holy City Brewery.

Last year we had over 150 contestants, 600 spectators & raised over $5,000 for Lowcountry Women withWings (Rising Above Ovarian Cancer) ( lowcountrywomenwithwings.org/ ).  Contestants came from as far as Texas, New York, California & Alaska.

This is a charity event for Lowcountry Women with Wings. Every year 22,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and within 5 years, 15,000 of themwill die. There is no reliable screening test for early detection of ovarian cancer. The LowcountryWomen with Wings program was established by Terry Scharstein, an ovarian cancer patient, in partnership with the Center for Women. Lowcountry Women with Wings provides education and support services to women diagnosed with ovarian cancer, their caregivers and families. The Center for Women offers programs on legal, financial and family issues as well as individual counseling and support groups.

The categories include sideburns, goatee, Donegal/Amish, moustache (styled & natural), junior full beard, college beard, full beard freestyle, partial beard freestyle, ladies artificial (creative & realistic), gray beard, full beard natural (> 12 inches & < 12 inches.  There will also be two Best in Show Awards.
