Mixson Market and The Flats at Mixson will co-host Dog Days of Summer, an outdoor neighborhood block party to celebrate the last days of the summer. The Market, located in the blossoming Park Circle neighborhood, is a one-stop shop for artisanal cuisine and kitchenwares and a communal gathering spot for friends and neighbors. The Flats at Mixson, the newest addition to the Mixson development is a progressive, residential collection featuring green, sustainable design and central, outdoor community spaces to encourage interaction between residents.

This gathering is free of charge and invites guests to enjoy a face painting and a dunking station, with the proceeds from both going to Pet Helpers, a private 501c3 no-kill animal shelter and spay/neuter clinic whose mission is to end the euthanasia of all adoptable pets in the Lowcountry. Pet Helpers shelters rescued animals until they find a home, provides affordable spay/neuter surgeries, and educates the public on responsible pet ownership. Pet Helpers will be in attendance with adoption information for rescue dogs. Guests’ dogs can enjoy The Lucky Puppy truck, South Carolina’s food truck dedicated only to dogs, offering homemade dog treats and toys. Local author, Jonathan Miller, will be available for book signings and readings of his popular children’s book series, “The Adventures of Sammy the Wonder Dachshund.”

Básico, a gourmet taqueria in the Mixson community, will be serving street corn with spicy aioli and fresh produce from GrowFood Carolina. King of Pops will offer tasty frozen popsicles for guests and specialty treats for dogs. Mixson Market will offer drafts of craft beer from Holy City Brewery, and the local band, Brave Baby, will play from 1 to 3 pm for guests to enjoy. Representatives from The Flats at Mixson will be available to offer pre-leasing information for the one- and two-bedroom thoughtfully designed residences, scheduled to open November 2013.
