West Of – West Ashley’s Weekly Community Newspaper has recently purchased 35 refurbished newspaper vending machines. With the help of chART Outdoor Initiative & Gallery, they have recruited 35 Charleston-based artists to use their creative vision to make each box a unique piece of community art.

Before being placed at various locations in the West Ashley community, the boxes will all be on display at various Avondale-based businesses. Participants are invited to walk to each of these “galleries” to view during this one-night-only reception. Additionally, the public is invited to vote on the ones they like best by feeding quarters into their favorite machine(s) – 100% of the proceeds go to ChART Outdoor Initiative & Gallery.

Hors d’oeuvres, beer, & wine available. Indoor “galleries” include WestOf Newspaper office,[non`pa*reil] photography , Lava Salon, Avondale Wine & Cheese, and Jericho Advisors.
