News > An Evening with The Met's Carrie Rebora Barratt

Charleston hosted Ms. Carrie Rebora Barratt from the Metropolitan Museum of Art this week as part of the Charleston Art & Antiques forum.  Ms. Barratt is the Associate Director of Collections and Administration and gave a fascinating talk on American Portraiture in the Colonial Era.  The address was given in the Old Courtroom of 23 Chalmers Street, which has seen Charleston’s wars, hurricanes, earthquakes and the reconstruction from each.  The Old Courtroom was restored in 2008 to it’s mid-19th century hey-day appearance as U.S. District Court and a Confederate States Court.
