Hear the Untold Story of the Wizard of Oz in WICKED

In a press conference this morning at the Performing Arts Center, along with North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey, Dave Holscher, General Manager of the PAC and Nick Scandalios, Executive VP of Nederlander Producing Company of America announced the 2011-2012 season coming to North Charleston.

In The Heights  November 15-16, 2011

Mamma Mia!  Deceber 6-8, 2011

Mary Poppins  February 1-4, 2012

Wicked  April 18-29, 2012

This will be the Lowcountry premier of Wicked, and with an unprecedented two-week run, the first of any show in the Coliseum/PAC history, Wicked will be the headlining show of the season.

Scandalios promised that “if Wicked sells out, 1. it will be back and 2. there will be more.”  Wicked has won 35 major awards and has been called “Broadway’s biggest blockbuster” by the New York Times and also the “defining musical of the decade.”

As I have been attending Best of Broadway show at the PAC for probably 5 seasons or more, I can absolutely say this is the strongest lineup yet.  My prediction: season ticket sale will go through the roof, and younger audiences will be showing up.  I noticed this trend at the last two performances there, of Spring Awakening and Spamalot. So buy your tickets now for the whole season, or risk sitting in the nosebleeds.

Best of Broadway season tickets are available at Coliseum Advance Ticket Office, 843.202.2787 or online at www.northcharlestoncolisuempac.com.
