On Thursday, June 21st local artist Rick Reinert will be honored as the City of Charleston accepts his painting, Dusk at King and Queen, winner of the 2012 Mayor’s Purchase Award. Reinert’s beautiful piece renders a view of Charleston at sundown, on the corner of streets King and Queen.

Since 1980, one painting has been selected every year from art displayed at Piccolo Spoleto.  An independent professional artist judges selections, and Piccolo Spoleto entry fees fund the winning purchase.

At 6 pm on Thursday, Mayor Joseph P. Riley will go to the Reinert LePrince Fine Art Gallery to accept this year’s painting. The public is welcome to attend the ceremony and reception to follow. Support Charleston’s own Rick Reinert by coming out to the gallery.
