Last night, I had the privilege of joining the good folks of BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival on the rooftop of Upper King’s newest gem Stars for a very special event. In years past, the Wine + Food poster was selected from a bajillion submissions in their poster contest. This year, they’re changing it up.

Robert Lange, painter, proprietor of Robert Lange Studios alongside his amazing wife Megan, and dear friend, was commissioned to paint the poster image. This was possibly the most happy marriage between my two great loves, art in Charleston and food in Charleston. Plus did I mention it was at Stars?! Chef Nathan Thurston is quite possibly one of the most bad-ass chefs around these parts, and now we have him downtown! (Read all about Thurston in this issue of Art Mag!)
The Poster Unveiling was lots of fun, and very intimate, with amazing food from Chef Thurston and his talented team at Stars, plus some divine wine poured by two brothers who are passionate about their juice. And the painting? It’s a goose! Swimming in a wine glass! Lange cleverly marries wine and food with humor. Nicely done, sir.
