Bob Moog

Asheville, North Carolina’s Moogfest is holding its third annual music festival this year on October 26th-27th. Dubbed after the late Bob Moog, Moogfest commemorates the synthesizer pioneer and grandfather of electronic music. Featured are artists that possess his same love for music and avant-garde style.

If the scenic Blue-Ridge Mountains aren’t enough to draw in people, the music is sure to do so.

Unlike Bonaroo, ran by the same festival organizer AC Entertainment, Moogfest is on a relatively small scale. While it may be lacking in size compared to other festivals, it makes up for it by featuring a great set of artists in its lineup.

Santigold

Headliners such as Primus, Nas, Miike Snow and Santigold will undoubtedly set Moogfest apart from its past years in the festival realm. Accompanied by these artists is an array of musicians that experiment with music and have developed a sound truly reflective of Moog’s legacy.

Electronic music engineers like Tim Hecker and Actress are also part of the lineup, as well as DJ Andy Scott and experimental artists Orbital and Death Grips.

These musicians’ styles are indicative of a common thread throughout the festival program. The festival’s team is interested in featuring artists that may not be compartmentalized in the same scene or genre, but that generate the same kind of response from a crowd. Thus, making this a festival for people who don’t mind exploring the musical genre spectrum and who are looking to hear something new and interesting.
