Indaco, the much anticipated new Italian joint on King Street, opened this past Saturday, August 3. This restaurant that bears the Italian name for “indigo” is the newest member of the Indigo Road Restaurant Group family; a family that includes some of our favorite eateries like The Macintosh, Cocktail Club, O-Ku, and more. With the opening of Indaco, Robert Berry, a 2002 graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France, has returned to Charleston where he began his culinary career at Slightly North of Broad. Also on the team as general manager is Andrew Fallis, an Indigo Road veteran and previous general manager of The Macintosh.
Steve Palmer, managing partner of The Indigo Road, shares his vision for Indaco: “Nothing is more Italian to me than sitting around a table, enjoying a meal with friends and family. Indaco embodies this spirit of sharing time and food with loved ones. We are ready and excited to open our doors to the Charleston community.”
Indaco uses local ingredients whenever they get the chance, featuring items from area and regional purveyors alike. The Indaco kitchen has its heart in its wood-fire oven, which they use overnight to braise in-house meats and well as making their deliciously authentic wood-fire pizzas.

The kitchen also boasts a rotisserie and wood-fire grill, and their menu features a mouthwatering spread including antipastas, pastas, house-made salumi and house-cured sausages and meats. In addition to the a la carte menu, a family-style menu, inspired daily by chef Berry, allows guests to enjoy the full spectrum of Indaco and partake in the communal dining custom of Italian cuisine for only $40 per person. Delicious and traditional fare as well as a passion for only the best ingredients allows Indaco to introduce Italian eating to Upper King’s booming fine dining scene for the first time.
Indaco is located at 526 King Street downtown, and opens at 5:00 pm seven nights a week serving dinner until 10:00 pm Sunday through Thursday and 11:00 pm on Friday and Saturday. Guests are encouraged to mingle at the bar after dining as pizzas will be served until 12:00 am both Friday and Saturday nights.
Be sure to check out Indaco whenever you get that craving for traditional Italian fare.
