Mahmood Fazal’s first photography memories are of a Kodak Instamatic camera, and over the years, image making blossomed into his passion. Now, Fazal is the new owner of the Charleston Center for Photography.
He succeeds award-winning Stacy Pearsall, who lead CCP for several years. Pearsall will be leaving to pursue other projects, including her work The Veterans Portrait Project, where she photographs American military veterans from around the country. She will stay at CCP as a consultant. “Mahmood has great plans for a new direction, which is really inspiring, “ she explains. “I really believe CCP will thrive.”
Fazal is as much dedicated to the art of photography as he is to educating other photographers, both novice and advanced. He enjoys helping others, and while he does pursue personal projects, he is most strongly committed to community involvement. Fazal plans to lead CCP in reaching out to more communities throughout Charleston.
