News > Review: “The Sunset Years” at Threshold Rep

There are two things one must do when attending Threshold Repertory Theatre. One, arrive early to snag the best seat in the house-they go quickly! And, Two, come ready to be touched, tickled, and connected with a show like you never have before. Saturday’s sold out performance of “The Sunset Years” by Thomas and Judy Heath was a hilarious comedy that shed light on the circumstances and love of a family.

Thomas and Judy Heath have an undeniable talent for portraying the realities of family in whimsical comedy. “The Sunset Years” was the couple’s first play they wrote together in 2010. Since then, the play has undergone various revisions to make it the masterpiece it is today. The Heaths are the current playwrights in residence at Threshold Rep, and are the writers and directors of many other pieces this season. Attendance to any of their work guarantees hours of diverting entertainment.

“The Sunset Years” portrays beloved characters on the most unpredictable and perilous journey: life. The performance will have you reminisce over your own family dynamics, between gasps from laughter, of course. The set placed the audience directly into their childhood kitchen and living room, and the intimacy of Threshold Rep’s set up keep the audience directly on top of the action. All of the characters were perfectly cast, and delivered an indelible performance.

Due to the turnout thus far, “The Sunset Years” has been extended an extra weekend! Showtimes now include Sun. Nov 9th @ 3pm, Thurs. Nov. 13th, Fri. Nov. 14th, Sat. Nov. 15th (all @ 8pm) and Sun. Nov. 16th @ 3pm. You cannot miss the chance to see this heart-lifting, side-splitting show!
