ArtFields 2021 Call for Submissions

The stakes are already high for artists. As of August, 94% of working artists report lost income according to an Americans for the Arts survey of more than 24,000 working artists. We’ve also seen reports that 1/3 of museums may never reopen.

Which makes the upcoming annual ArtFields competition that much more monumentous. Not only does it draw artists to the competition by offering large sums of prize money, but the ArtFields team is working on adding new programming to equip artists with practical knowledge they can apply to succeeding in their field at a time where it’s incredibly tough to be a working artist.

Entries are now open, and both emerging and established Southeastern artists have until Nov 1st to apply.

The annual, nine-day art competition and exhibition will take place April 23 – May 1, 2021, in Lake City, SC, bringing together art lovers, collectors, and curators who come to see Lake City transform into a town-wide gallery. Accepted artists will to be part of the celebration while they compete for $100,000 in prizes.

ArtFields started in 2013 with a simple goal: honor Southeastern artists with nearly two weeks worth of celebration and competition in the heart of Lake City—a small, once agrarian South Carolina town. To date, ArtFields has awarded over $800,000 in prize money, helped launch the careers of countless artists, and ultimately led to Lake City’s transformation into an expanding arts mecca.

Artists of all media, who live in the competition’s 12 participating Southern states, should apply. Prizes and rules details are here.
