The Charleston artistic community was out in full force Saturday night for a cause it would truly be impossible to put a value on. Home to the Lowcountry’s most talented creative trailblazers, it was no surprise to see Redux Contemporary Art Center so well supported at its 12th Annual Art Auction and fundraiser.
Needless to say, we were happy to pick up a bidder card and join the fun!
Harborside East was the perfect canvas for this swanky affair. The auction featured stunning pieces from contributing artists to include Lulie Wallace, Teil Duncan, Jen Ervin, Anna Sims King, Kaminer Haislip, Karin Olah, Kate Long Stevenson, Lese Corrigan, Whitney Kreb, Becca Barnet, India MCelroy, Raven Roxanne, Dorothy Shain & many more- a multi-disciplinary lineup locally created for every artistic palate.
After a warm welcome from Executive Director, Stacy Huggins, the bidding was underway as participants energetically awaited the opportunity to “bid high and bid often” on their favorite piece. Guests could be found alternating between the excitement on the main bidding stage and the silent auction placed around the room (with the occasional stop for a Cathead Vodka sip).
At the conclusion of the night, lucky bidders claimed their piece of Redux history and left envisioning its new place in their own homes.
All in all, it was truly a great night for supporting and investing in local art culture. If you missed it this year, be sure to mark your calendars for the next. Our advice? Get your tickets early before they are going, going, gone.
