Our dear friend Jason Baxley stopped by the Art Mag office yesterday to fill us in on some exciting Charleston news: Mayor Joe Riley has declared May 26 officially Beard and Moustache Appreciation Day! Baxley and the Holy City Beard & Moustache Society met with Mayor Riley yesterday afternoon when the Mayor made the announcement (and donned a totally rocking ‘stache).
Join the Holy City Beard & Moustache Society guys tomorrow at the Third Annual Beard & Moustache Championships at the Music Farm at 6 pm. Enter in one of the many, many crazy contests including best sideburns, college beard, groomed beard, among others. Proceeds benefit Lowcountry Women with Wings.

Declaring May 26 Beard and Moustache Day
Speaking of Mayor Riley, he has been a busy man! We spotted him today at the Spoleto opening ceremony at City Hall, which was packed, packed, packed full of people. It seems as if all of Charleston has caught Spoleto fever (we know we have). Even the mayor of Spoleto, Italy was in attendance.

Between all of the plays, art exhibits, and literary readings you’ll be attending thisweekend, make sure to stop in and see our friends at the Piccolo Outdoor Art Exhibition and at this weekend’s Farmers Market in Marion Square. Mr. Moustache and Beard (well, mainly beard), Jason Baxley, will be selling his awesome photographs at the Farmers Market so stop by and say hi.
