Sparkling Rosé = Your New Best Friend

When it comes to sparkling wine, I don’t discriminate. I love every style of sparkling (except for Moscato, of course), and embrace them with open, loving arms. Trying to pick a style that I deem my favorite would be like choosing my favorite child …assuming that children were part of my existence. Luckily, I just drink a lot of sparkling wine instead.

With that said, I have always been a huge fan of sparkling rosé. Unfortunately, quality examples at a reasonable price point have been few and far between, until recently. As the wine world continues to improve and become more competitive in general, the affordable sparkling rosés of the world have also stepped up their game.

These wines are typically produced with a higher proportion of red grapes such as Pinot Noir and display those classic red fruit driven wines that emphasize rose petals, fresh herbs and a rugged earthiness. For the person who ‘only‘ drinks red wine, this might be the perfect segway into the sparkling wine world.

Here are some of my favorites of the moment:

Graham Beck Brut Rosé,
Western Cape, South Africa, NV ($17)

Lucien Albrecht, Brut Rosé,
Cremant d’Alsace, France, NV ($20)

Scarpetta, ‘Timido’, Brut Rosé,
Friuli, Italy, NV ($28)

Henri Boillot, Brut Rosé,
Champagne, France, NV ($75)
